THE TILL STOPS HIDING
The Pit Shop had the money up in its letterhead. Technically visible, sure. But when you were looking from a rare card to a suspiciously expensive bit of hardware, the number had to be found again every time.
So cash has its own proper till now: a dark little counter with a gold border, a clear CASH ON HAND label and a big coin-and-number readout. It sits beside the stock instead of pretending to be part of the sign over the door.
And when we buy, it pays us back in the only currency that matters: feedback. The total counts down, the till gives a quick mechanical dip, and the exact cost drops away underneath in red. A card leaving the shelf is no longer the only clue that our wallet just got lighter.
The small print: prices, stock, discounts and the amount of cash in a run have not changed. The till is just finally doing its job loudly enough to hear over the garage.
