PIT NOTES

Updates from the workshop, straight off the bench.

ARTHUR GETS TO THE POINT.

Arthur has been racing since 1957. That gives him stories. It does not excuse forgetting to explain the lesson. We have kept his voice and given his coaching a clearer job: name the stat, explain what it does, then tell you which card to play.

Before: plenty of character. Not enough explanation.

The highlighted stat now keeps its label and number aligned. Arthur's box sits beside the arrow. Acceleration explains gaining speed; Top Speed explains the ceiling; brakes explain slowing before a bend, and handling explains the pace through it.

The pointer and the lesson finally share a workbench.

The card timer gets a straight answer: every time it empties, you get to play another card. Boosts get their missing introduction too: equip one, meet its condition, then watch its temporary bonus count down. Nitro waits for a straight and burns for six seconds.

We also found why the drive out of school felt like hitting gravel. The scenery and finished road were being rebuilt every frame. They now stay drawn while the next piece pops into place. The same browser road test improved from 103–128 ms to 10–34 ms at the 95th percentile across repeat runs on our test machine. The first draw is prepared during Arthur's existing farewell, before the car starts moving.

Lesson over. A smoother road to the first sponsor.

The cards, racing rules, school route and Arthur's RULE ONE: FINISH all stay as they were.
