LIGHTS OUT, AND AWAY WE GO
Races used to begin the way spreadsheets begin: everything just started existing. Now there's a proper ceremony. A light gantry drops in over the start line, the camera punches down onto the grid — the actual grid, not the vague middle of the circuit — and you get a close-up of the field revving and twitching before the reds count down and the green sets everyone loose.
Cups now end with the same sense of occasion. Clear one and the field doesn't teleport to the next country — the convoy drives out, east, off the map you just conquered and on toward the next one, no loading screen, no curtain. The world you raced through is the world you leave through.
Small print: the racing between the green light and the chequered flag is untouched. We only dressed the doorway in and the road out.
